The first ever Irish Vapefest took place on the 15th September 2012 at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel & Conference Centre near Portlaoise and the event was a massive success with an estimated attendance throughout the day of approximately 250 people. This was exceptional for the first event of its kind to be held in Ireland and shows the interest that is out there as there wasn't one penny spent in advertising!
Vapefest Ireland was run on a non profit basis and was organised to promote electronic cigarettes & vaping in Ireland. We hoped the event would help to get information out there about tobacco harm reduction and believe that it has contributed greatly to that. If anyone is interested in using electronic cigarettes as a safer alternative to tobacco, the links to vendor suppliers and some vaping forums and review websites are in the links section of this website.
The event also allowed the Irish Vaping Community and some of our International friends to meet the suppliers and each other as we mostly deal with each other on an online basis. It also allowed us to celebrate the improvements vaping has brought to our health because of no longer taking in the 3000+ chemicals, tar and cancer causing carcinogens in tobacco cigarettes.
There was a Rebuildable Workshop on the day where people who like to rebuild their own atomiser devices were able to spend some time with fellow hobbyists comparing devices and techniques and it all went down very well and was a lot of fun. Big thanks to CharlieJ for his help with the workshop.
StefanK and his wife Mary held a safety workshop alongside the rebuildable workshop and were dishing out advice to people on things like battery safety and some other safety aspects of vaping. This contrubuted greatly to some new and experienced ecig users alike as safety is very important.
The Monster Raffle was a resounding success thanks to the generosity of the supporting vendors with over 51 fabulous prizes going to lucky winners and there was also a free juice bar and over 80 items like kits and t-shirts etc given to the first attendees to arrive.
The total raffle money raised on the day was €1012 and after deducting €511 costs for everything needed to run the event, it leaves €501 raised for the Irish Cancer Society which will be given to them in the next few days or so. Well done everyone and thanks for yer support :)
We also wish to also thanks the Management and Staff of the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel for their fantastic support.
Thanks to everyone who supported the event in any way and to everyone who helped out on the day, Roll On Vapefest Ireland 2013!!!!!
